Alley Oop
Alley Oop is drawn by Jack Bender and written by Carole Bender.

"This boggles my mind," Jack Bender says. "I'm only the third person to sign this strip in more than 60 years."

Like Hamlin, Jack Bender is a native Iowan and an alumnus of the University of Missouri. Bender was editorial cartoonist for the Waterloo (Iowa) Courier for 20 years before moving to Tulsa. Other cartooning experience includes teaching a comics course at the University of Tulsa and being the assistant to cartoonist Don Martin on a strip called "The Nutheads."

Carole Bender has been the letterer and general assistant on the strip since 1992. She is a graphic artist and the author of the book Bob Gibson: I Come for to Sing (Folk Era Books, 1999). Carole is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and grew up in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Jack and Carole Bender are married and live in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
